OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

For your safety, please read the information thoroughly before attempting to use this product and before taking this product into areas where aggressive bears may be encountered.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:


When threatened by a bear, place forefinger through hole in handle. Place thumb in front of orange safety clip and remove it by lifting up and back. Point nozzle directly toward bear's face. Depress actuator tab for a burst of spray to a maximum range of 4 metres. Spray is most effective at short range. Avoid discharging upwind. Move away to avoid exposure to spray. Replace orange safety clip after use.

FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY:


Capsaicin sprays have been proven effective in repelling aggressive bears only when sprayed directly into the face, especially in the eyes or on the nose of the animal. This product is only to be used to deter aggressive bears that are attacking or about to attack people. DO NOT seek out encounters with bears. There is no guaranteed method of responding to an aggressive bear encounter because each encounter is unique. This product is a bear attack repellent that may protect users in some unexpected confrontations with these animals but may not be effective in all situations or prevent all injuries. Strict attention to the advice of wildlife professionals on safety is advised. This product must be used only as a last resort. Capsaicin sprays will not repel bears from treated objects or areas. DO NOT spray objects (e.g., tents, clothing) or areas with this product. DO NOT use this product against people or non-target animals.

NOTICE TO USER:

This pest control product is to be used only in accordance with the directions on the label. It is an offense under the Pest Control Products Act to use this product in a way that is inconsistent with the directions on the label.
NATURE OF RESTRICTION: For use by authorized customers where the vendor maintains a record of sales, including the name and address of the purchaser, amount purchased together with a signed Notice to Purchaser.

RESTRICTED USE:

Yukon Magnum Bear Deterrent is designed to be used in wilderness applications to help defend individuals needing assistance when confronted by aggressive bears. This product is for spraying in the face of aggressive bears only and is not to be used against domestic animals or human beings.

PRECAUTIONS:

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Severe irritation to eyes, nose, respiratory and skin areas can occur. Persons with respiratory problems or wearing contact lenses should not use this product. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid inhalation of spray.

WHEN TRAVELLING DO NOT STORE IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT:

Contact air carriers for regulations concerning air transport. Contents under pressure. Container may explode if heated. Do not place in hot water or near radiators, stoves or other sources of heat. Do not use in the presence of open flame or spark or while smoking. Do not leave in hot vehicle. For safety and performance, do not store above 50°C or below -15°C.

Be careful not to puncture container. DO NOT INCINERATE CONTAINER. Wash hands before touching eyes or face and prior to using the washroom.

FIRST AID:

In case of external contact, REMAIN CALM, flush thoroughly with water. DO NOT RUB. Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice. If contact occurs with eyes, hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice. If inhaled, move person to fresh air. If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably by mouth-to-mouth, if possible. Call a poison control centre or doctor for further treatment advice. Symptoms usually disappear within one hour. If symptoms persist, obtain medical attention or call a Poison Control Centre immediately. Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention.

TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

Treat symptomatically.

DISPOSAL:

When the container is empty, press valve to release all pressure. Dispose of empty container in accordance with Provincial requirements. For information on disposal of unused, unwanted product, contact the manufacturer or the provincial regulatory agency. Contact the manufacturer and the provincial regulatory agency in case of a spill, and for clean-up of spills.
All bear repellent products are licensed for use by Health Canada under the PMRA and are completely legal when used for their intended purpose for use against aggressive and threatening bears. Using these products for other than their intended purpose may result in criminal prosecution.
